Mimesis
Limestone, 36 x 17 x 22 cm
Mimesis, from the Greek μίμησις, in classical aesthetics is the imitation of nature. In social relations, it refers to the imitation of a person’s way of speaking and gestures.
This piece was born from a cubic block. The initial intention was to lose the edges and achieve roundness with a pointer texture, while always preserving the initial texture of the stone (oxide) on one side. The second intention was to place the two parts «facing» each other to create a dialogue. The detail that they meet on the rougher, older side is a nod to those human relationships that arise from the past.

The black stone of Alcublas is a limestone with a dark gray color and almost black blue tones in fresh cut, with a very fine grain (micritic) and a distinctly conchoidal fracture and smooth texture. It is a stone from the Jurassic period. Cracks filled with white calcite are very abundant.
