Skin
Cork wood, plant fiber and rope 25 x 10 x 5 cm
The cork oak’s thick bark, warm and light, cradles a vigorous sprout. Growing strong yet detached from the living wood beneath, this independent shoot seeks no shelter, yet a fragile stitch tenderly binds it beneath the bark’s skin
technical data
Esparto grass, Stipa tenacissima, is a steppe grass that grows spontaneously in Europe only on the Iberian Peninsula and North Africa. Besides being a useful plant against erosion and desertification, it is a highly resistant material for spinning and braiding all kinds of ropes and utensils. Simone Simons, Esparto, Diseño Rural pg 6.
